Congratulations to Xinhui Wang for winning the "Excellent Award" of the 18th "Chunhui Cup" Overseas Researchers Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

On December 21, 2023, the 18th Chunhui Cup China Overseas Educated Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Entrepreneurship Exchange Conference and Awarding Ceremony for Finalists convened in Guangzhou. Co-organized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, the competition garnered participation from 537 projects spanning 36 countries and regions globally. Notably, Xinhui Wang's endeavour, titled "High-Precision Digital Light Processing (DLP) 3D Printer for Medical Field," successfully secured placement following preliminary screening and evaluation, earning an invitation to partake in the business roadshow in China. Xinhui's project emerged as one of the 12 finalists in the Advanced Manufacturing and Automation category worldwide and the only one from Ireland to be shortlisted in this area. Moreover, the high-precision DLP 3D printer developed by Xinhui was ranked in the top three overall in the roadshow and gained a lot of attention from experts as well as investors.


During the business roadshow, Xinhui's high-precision DLP 3D printer captivated the interest of the Guangzhou Zengcheng District Science and Technology Bureau, Suzhou Wuzhong District Science and Technology Bureau, and Shanghai Putuo District Science and Technology Bureau. Engaging in comprehensive discussions with the bureau leaders, Xinhui delved into the potential prospects for future commercialization.


Xinhui's work was funded by the "European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Maria Skłodowska-Curie grant", which is also his PhD project. The anticipation is for Xinhui to continue exploring avenues for commercialization, expeditiously transitioning his doctoral research into a commercial product, thereby contributing to the practical application of his scholarly pursuits.
